Rantizo is a venture-backed agtech startup based in Iowa City, IA that uses UAVs to apply liquid and dry inputs for agricultural purposes. Rantizo currently operates in 18 states and is actively expanding based on market feedback and customer data.
Rantizo is building custom hardware solutions to extend the capabilities of the UAVs used by our network of applicators to provide for maximum efficiency. Rantizo is also building a mobile app and web-based platform to service our network of aerial applicators and their customers using an ultramodern technology stack. Features of this platform include job scheduling, resource management, time keeping, billing/payments, Bluetooth-based interaction with equipment, management of geospatial data, and much more.
We are looking for a Technical Architect that can work with our developers to:
- Develop, document, and review detailed technical elements
Review user stories/use cases and work with (other) engineering staff to implement them
- Primary business processes
- Integrations with 3rd party components such as
- Accounting, inventory, billing, time keeping
- Geospatial data
- Sales/Marketing/Social Media
- Producers of the User stories are our internal Product Management staff
- Consumers are software and firmware engineers (both in-house and external contractors)
- Work with Product Owner(s) and other staff to assist with capturing business (functional) requirements and non-functional requirements (such as desired response times, etc.)
- Work with (other) engineering staff to implement user stories and review work product from engineering teams
- Work with project management/PMO to assist with prioritization and related tasks
What We Need to See
BS or MS in Computer Science (or related field) or relevant equivalent experience
5+ years working experience creating applications from user stories and related interactions with product owner(s), project managers, and engineering teams
Demonstrated ability to capture and document complex systems and user interactions with an emphasis on detail and clarity
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with local and geographically dispersed teams
Ability to review work output from engineering teams to confirm user stories are being implemented and best internal engineering practices are being applied
Ways to Stand Out from Other Candidates
Demonstrated fluency with
- Google Cloud Platform
- Google Cloud Functions
Experience with Atlassian tool suite such as Confluence and Jira and BitBucket
Experience with Agile methods and terminology
Experience with AgTech or related industries
Experience with GIS data
Experience with 3rd party integrations via API

The Rantizo team offers compensation commensurate to experience at competitive levels in relevant industries. Compensation for this role is expected to be in the $70-80k range plus benefits.
